What if supervision could be as creative, fun and experiential as the therapy we encourage our supervisees to provide?
Clinical supervision does not have to rely solely on conversation, case review and discussion. Play, creativity and experiential activities can bring supervision to life—helping supervisees explore clinical challenges, deepen self-awareness, strengthen therapeutic skills and discover new ways of understanding both their clients and themselves.
Join internationally recognized play therapy author, trainer and supervisor Dr. Athena A. Drewes for an engaging and highly experiential workshop exploring the why and how of bringing playful approaches into clinical supervision.
This workshop is especially valuable for:
Play therapy supervisors, supervisor interns, clinical supervisors, experienced play therapists moving toward supervision, and clinicians interested in making supervision more engaging, reflective and experiential.
Learning Objectives
By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Identify at least three benefits of incorporating playful and experiential approaches into clinical supervision.
2. Describe at least two practical ways play-based techniques can be integrated into the supervision process.
3. Experience and apply at least one play-based supervision technique that can be immediately incorporated into their own supervisory practice.
4. Consider ethical, legal, cultural and developmental factors when selecting playful interventions for supervision.
5. Explore how creative supervision techniques can deepen reflection, increase supervisee engagement and expand clinical perspectives when addressing challenging cases.
