Summary:

Resilient Communities: Renewal and Rebuilding in the playroom. 

• This training will provide attendees with the opportunity to review the impact of complex trauma and current themes in play therapy practice for children, youth, and adults. and their families so all of these clients can thrive. We will discuss the importance of equity and culturally-informed practice to address inequitable outcomes for clients who experience systemic oppression. Resilience-centered play therapy techniques can improve both the client experience and strengthen relationships. Play therapy interventions can improve overall resilience, self-worth, and confidence – giving clients the tools to improve their lives, their relationships, and heal their experiences.

Participants will:

• explore current themes in mental health and trauma that influence play therapy practice,
• discuss and identify culturally-informed practices that meet clients where they are at while addressing systemic issues they encounter.
• engage in experiential exercises with colleagues blending theory with practice, and 
• refresh resiliency practices in professional practice and with service users.

CAPT has also put together a wonderful panel of Play Therapists who are proficient in working with resilience in the playroom. Nicole Perryman will moderate the panel.
